The Vice Chancellor<figure class="image"><img src="https://www.asu.edu.om/img/Team/89.jpg"></figure>Fouad B. Chedid was born in Lebanon on February 12, 1962. He graduated from the Lebanese University with B.S. in Physics in 1982. In 1984, he traveled to the United States of America, where he attended the University of California at Riverside and graduated with M.S. in Computer Science in June 1987. He then attended Illinois Institute of Technology in Chica and graduated with Ph.D. in Computer Science in August 1990.In August 1990, Prof. Chedid traveled to Japan to join the faculty of Temple University (Tokyo Campus), where he spent the next six years. In 1996, he returned to Lebanon to join Notre Dame University (NDU) as Associate Professor of Computer Science, where he spent the next 15 years. During his tenure at NDU, he chaired the computer science department of NDU’s main campus for six years and the sciences division of NDU’s Shouf Campus for eight years. He was promoted to Full Professor in 2003.In 2011, Prof. Chedid travelled to Oman to serve as Dean of Arts and Applied Sciences at Dhofar University in Salalah, where he spent the next three years, before returning to Lebanon in 2014, where he spent two years at Middle East Airlines as Head of Human Resources. In 2016, he returned back to Oman as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at A’Sharqiyah University (ASU). From April 2018, he served as Acting Vice Chancellor of ASU before taking up the position of Vice Chancellor on 1 April 2019.Prof. Chedid’s research interests are in parallel and distributed computing and alrithmic information theory.
